Automotive Service Technician

The Automotive Service Technician inspects, maintains and repairs automobiles that run on electricity, gasoline, or alternative fuels like ethanol. He/she executes basic care maintenance like tire rotations and oil changes, diagnosing complex problems, and planning and executing vehicle repairs.
Job Duties
- Test to check whether systems and components are secure and are working properly
- Isolate the systems or components that might have caused the problem
- Drive the vehicle for testing purposes or using various equipment, including hand-held and onboard compression gauges or diagnostic computers
- Maintain efficiency and accuracy in diagnosing as well as repairing vehicles
- Repair or replace worn parts ahead of the vehicle’s breakdown or damage
- Follow a checklist to ensure that each critical part of the vehicle is examined
- Watch or inspect closely parts like hoses, belts, plugs, fuel systems, brakes, and other possible troublesome items
- Use power tools like pneumatic wrenches in order to remove bolts easily and quickly
- Use machine tools, such as grinding machines and lathes to rebuild brakes
- Use common hand tools like screwdrivers, wrenches, and pliers, to work on small-scale parts
- Review work orders and discuss work with the supervisor
- Inspect motor in operation, road test motor vehicle, and test automotive systems and components using computerized diagnostic and other testing devices to diagnose and isolate faults
- Adjust, repair, or replace parts and components of automotive systems including fuel system, brakes, steering and suspension, engine and drivetrain, emission control and exhaust, cooling and climate control, and electrical and electronic systems using hand tools and other specialized automotive repair equipment
- Test and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer’s performance specifications
- Perform scheduled maintenance service, such as oil changes, lubrications, and tune ups
- Advise customers on work performed, general vehicle condition and future repair requirements.
- Inspect and test mechanical units, such as engines, transmissions, axles, and brake systems, to locate faults and malfunctions.
- Diagnose faults or malfunctions and confirm findings with the supervisor to determine whether to repair or replace the unit.
- Repair or replace mechanical units or components using hand and power tools.
- Test and adjust units to specifications for proper performance.
- Complete reports to record problems and work performed.
Requirements
- High School diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent -5+years of direct work experience in automotive repairs and service
- Extensive knowledge of different automobiles and their service needs
- Professional demeanour
- Efficient problem-solving skills
- Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with customers
- Exceptional verbal communication and presentation skills
- Ability to learn new technology and repair and service procedures and specifications

Job Duties
- Tire Rotations: Rotate, mount, and balance tires as necessary.
- Oil Changes: Perform oil and filter changes, ensuring to properly dispose of waste oil and filters in accordance with local regulations.
- Lot Maintenance: Maintain a clean and organized vehicle lot including moving and arranging cars, sweeping, and snow removal as necessary.

Summary
The Parts Advisor is responsible for delivering outstanding customer service and parts knowledge. He/she answers the phones and customer and supplier inquiries through email in a professional and timely manner. The Parts Advisor takes orders over the phone and in person, as well as proactively assists customers browsing in the store. He/she is also expected to arrange any special delivery needs for the customer for their purchase. The Parts Advisor efficiently finds ways to search parts that are not kept within the store. He/she enhances sales by offering excellent customer service and providing information about add-ons.

Job Duties
- Oversee the Maintenance of books of account (including but not limited to preparing checks, coding and posting invoices, preparing deposits, journal entries, reconciliations, petty cash).
- Oversee issuing of checks / payment of invoices.
- Oversee accounts receivable.
- Assist the payroll coordinator as necessary to ensure payroll is completed efficiently.
- Oversee internal system of handling funds.
- Maintain year-end working papers and spreadsheets and assist with preparation for any audits or independent reviews with support from the General Managers.
- Complete monthly reconciliation for all accounts (bank and brokerage accounts).
- Exert care and control over assets and records and establish procedures for safeguarding, including security and computer backup (copy virus checked and stored off-site)
- Assist in maintaining policy and procedure documentation for complex financial and accounting issues.
- Maintain current knowledge of regulatory changes and impacts on the organization’s books of account.
- Maintain an accurate and complete trail of supporting documentation for all financial and bookkeeping activities.
- Maintain up-to-date, complete, and systematic filing system to support bookkeeping and financial records.
- Is responsible for tax planning and compliance with Federal, Provincial, and local corporate, payroll, and other applicable taxes.
- Has the final responsibility for providing effective financial controls for the organization.
Requirements
- CGA designation preferred.
- Experience in accounting an asset.
